I mean, all the different things I can do with my gonads and ball bat to make brains and hamburgers and stuff.
I think the bigger point today was missed by most. In the hour and a half of boring THESE ARE THE MAGICAL NEW um three iPods… the most important comment was when Steve said that the iPod Touch is “an iPhone without a contract”. Clearly, the rivalry between Apple and Google is a friendly competition between friends. The real competition is between Apple/Google and the old carries and cable companies.
Have you ever seen “Interview with a Vampire”? Apple/Google are the new, young, fresh vampires who are hip and cool and understand the modern world. AT&T/Verizon/Comcast/Time Warner are the old vampires who know their time has come, and are desperately trying to taste the flesh of the new vampires to stay alive. And Apple/Google will play that, giggling with every fresh shovel of dirt they throw on the old, dead, dried out trolls.
..leaders and followers. Victims and those in control. Fun and lame. Lovers and haters. Happy and sad. Which are you?
Sometimes, you cannot sit on the fence, you must take a stand. And will you sulk in the shadows in fear, writing emo poetry… or stand in the light, proud and tall and dance to the beautiful music of life?
Where do you exist? What do *you* stand for?
New iPods announced today that will be much more magical than last year, LOL! Actually, if they finally have cameras, I may be interested myself!
If you are on a Mac or iOS device, you can watch live on Apple.com
isn’t that corny? but it is so true. I realize it more and more every day. With all of our gadgets and media and cars, and houses…
My Willow, that whipsers wisdom to me… the stars that guide me… runes that I carve with my own hands that create my life… the friendship of my dog, and the love of my partner and friends… the bright moon that allows me to see in the night. None of these things ask for payment… they are just there, as a constant reminder that life itself is important. The meaning of it all, is to live, exist, to find joy, and spread it to others, and the Cosmos beyond…
..about what it means to be Heathen. She was curious about my faith. I explained that my faith is the faith of my European ancestors prior to the Christian conversion. I believe in the Gods that my honorable ancestors believed in. It is a faith of personal honor, hospitality, courage, and honesty. Heathens are not born with sin… we are born with an clean slate and our actions and deeds create our fate. We do not look to someone else to wash away our sins, our mistakes and fuck ups… but rather we take responsibility for those mistakes, and correct them. Heathenry is a faith that respects other belief systems. My ancestors we very open to other Gods, and other religions. There is no “conversion” aspect of my faith.
But after all that, the conversation ended with her saying that she felt it important to help me get into Christian heaven. This is a good person, that I respect, and she means well. But I still find it disrespectful and condescending. The world is full of so many different people there could never be one ideology or faith to fit them all. Why do the middle eastern faiths, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, believe that each of their paths is the only true way to divinity… and the rest of us need to be saved from damnation?
So, my tantrum was sparked by this: 5 tips to retain privacy of Foursquare
I go out on a limb and ask why would an individual who is concerned with privacy should even use Foursquare? I mean, this privacy debate seems to be just dragging out. Perhaps for now, anyone hypersensitive about their privacy should simply not use social media and just stick to email and the telephone? Or am I being a dick and missing the point?
To me, the privacy debate is getting old. If you want privacy, dont post anywhere. You dont have to, LOL!
Dunbar’s number is a sociological theory that we can only maintain real friendships and relationships with out 150 other people. Any more than that, and the fabric of these relationships begins to break down. In all of human history, it is only now, in modern times that we have the opportunity to be ‘friends’ with humdreds of people on Facebook, Twitter, Google buzz, and other online services. But I have always believed in Dunbar’s number… and thus more than 100-150 friends on any social networking site simply means that I am collecting networking links with other strangers, rather than actually interacting with a group of “friends”. Thus, if you are one of the few on one of my social sites, you are one of the lucky few (LOL!) =]
